THE ARTIST
- Puja Sarkar is an Indian visual artist and social activist with BFA and MFA degrees in painting from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Over 15 years, she has participated in numerous international and national exhibitions, art fairs, painting camps, and workshops. Her work has earned her various awards and honors, including a Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, in 2022, and recognition in the global contest 'Winner Women Artist' in 2019. Her paintings are quasi-autobiographical, blending feminist perspectives with surrealist and expressionistic styles. Inspired by Frida Kahlo and Henri Matisse, she uses bright colors and textures to transform everyday objects into thought-provoking art. Puja lives and works in Kolkata, with her artworks held in private collections worldwide.
